    >Second Day of My Trip – Thurs 7th Sept

    >Tuesday began with me being shaken awake at seven and told I had to get up as I was ongoing watch. I had no clue who woke me just that it was a big guy standing over me when I openned my eyes. Turned out it was Jason from the current watch. Matt came down to chivy me along after a bit as I was late for first sitting breakfast (ongoing watch and messmen) and then a few minutes later Jo came down and helped me with my trainers (Rosie was on mess duty and so not there to help me). I got a few comments about being late when…

    >I am sick. Soph, Ben, Geri and I went out to eat last night. It was very yummy. But I have had a very very poorly tummy all day. Coincidence? I hope so but I fear not. >The First Day of My Trip – Weds 6th Sept

    >I was picked up by my lift half an hour before I was supposed to be. I wasn’t quite ready but luckily it was a case of putting my trainers on and chucking my toothbrush in the bag. I frantically double checked that I had my passport, camera and Euros and was good to go. The man who organised my trip for me (Stan) came as well as my drivers (Eira and Peter). Stan took a couple of photos of me with them for Rotary club records and a couple more with my camera at my request. He wished me a good trip and told me that I would be…

    >How I made out with my JST “to do list”

    >I was just thinking about the list of things I wrote that I wanted to do on my trip. I did go up the mast in a wheelchair (not my wheelchair, it wouldn’t go on the frame). I loved it and would love to do it again. Thanks to Hulya one of the other members of the Voyage Crew who took charge of my camera whilst I went aloft I have some wonderful photos of the experience.I did go ashore. And we certainly made an impression on the staff of the restaurant where we went for our dinner – 20 of us went including five wheelchairs. They said if we…

    >Briefly about my trip

    >I have lots to tell you and lots of photos to share but I really feel if I wrote it now I wouldn’t do it now. I am still pretty tired and to be honest feel lousy. However earlier today I wrote an e-mail to the person who organised the trip for me. I thought I would share part of that with you. I will be doing a 20 minute presentation about the trip at one of the Rotary club meetings and the rest of the e-mail relates to that and is me saying thank you, thank you, thank you! Apart from a brief bout of seasickness I had a…

    >Running on Empty

    > I got home just about an hour or so. I had an absolutely brilliant time and I’ve loads of photos to share. But I’ve had literally about 14 hours sleep since 7 am Friday – I got woken up at 7 am friday was up until 2 am Saturday, back up at 7 am. In bed about 2pm awake again about five and then in bed from 11pm until 6am this morning. So more details will have to wait. I did write most of a ships update yesterday though so that will probably be on the website soon. I don’t know if it will say my name or if…

    >Gone Sailing

    >This is my last update before my trip I feel very very nervous about it now but also excited. I think the biggest thing i feel is sick. BUT I saw my GP today and she did some really nice stuff for me which helps my anxiety about the trip so I am feeling better tahn I was. Some of the things I hope to do on my trip: Watch the sunset Watch the sunrise See lots of stars on nightwatch Go ashore Go up the mast in my wheelchair Maybe climb the rigging if I think my legs can handle it. Hopefully see some dolphins or wales Make the…

    >Calm

    >I’m feeling very calm and happy and READY to go on my trip right now!  It’s a very pleasing and happy feeling.  But I do wish I were going tomorrow and not Wednesday because between now and then I’ll probably work myself up into a huge state of stress again.  I’m also all packed for my trip. I’ve had a couple of requests to see my newly pink hair… it’s not the best pic and it looks kind of redish in this but here you go: click to view larger, as always. Not much else to report, I’m reading a really good book and I think I might go curl…

    >T minus 61 hours!

    >My hair is wonderfully pink again… all of it this time, no more streaks for THIS cripple!  It faded damn quickly last time and probably will this time too but I don’t care, I have lovely pink hair for my trip and that’s all that matters. I think my crazy colours hairdye freak thing has to do with confidence [increasing/giving me confidence] but I can’t seem to put my thought processes into the right words to explain it. I think… I stand out from the crowd in many ways because I am disabled and in a wheelchair and that the reason I love to have red/blue/purple/pink hair is because it…

    >My powerchair is HOME!

    >The combination of having my powerchair back and having managed to get almost all of the last things I needed for my trip has made me a happy girlie today. I had decided that I would get a second memory card for my camera because although my card is 256MB I’ve recently discovered the video function and that zaps the memory. So I looked on the Argos website that they were selling 1GB cards for £70 – £80 or 512MB cards for £35 or a little more depending on the brand. So I figured I would get the 512MB one and the two together would (should be more than enough…
