Not very much reading this week. It’s been all about the audiobooks and Harry Potter in particular.
I finished listening to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on Thursday. I got through that much quicker than I expected and on the whole I enjoyed it. It was a little weird on Thursday to be listening to the end of the book where Dumbledore dies and there’s all that stuff with Snape and it’s emotional when the news had just broken that Alan Rickman had died.
On Friday I started listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. How cool is the cover on this audio version? I like it a lot. I really like all the covers the Audible audiobooks have but this one might be my favourite.
I’m not sure if this might be the first time I’ve gone all the way through this book as a reread. I’ve reread all the others and some of them more than once (I reread them before Deathly Hallows came out) but I can’t remember ever rereading this. Part of me would be very surprised if I hadn’t but I don’t think I have.
I haven’t touch the physical book I was reading last week – The Lives of Stella Bain by Anita Shreve – but I plan to finish that this week because it’s good and I want to know what happens. But I did buy a copy of Wickham Hall by Cathy Bramley which is finally out as a whole novel (yes I did say I wasn’t going to buy books in January but frankly I was always going to buy this the minute January was over so why wait) and I’ve read the first three or so chapters. That’s another book I plan to finish this week.
